Where did the last 2 months go?!

I can't believe it has been so long since I have posted. It has been a whirlwind of a Spring. Yesterday marked 2 months from the day we closed on our first house and we have been knee deep in paint since Day 1, literally.

Here is what the past 2 months have looked like:

-Painted the Guest Room
-Audra's Bridal Shower
-Painted the Living Room
-Bought Dining Room table
-Moved Josh and Audra into their apartment
-Moved into the House
-Painted the Master Bedroom
-Painted the Kitchen
-Went to Family Reunion
-Painted the Kitchen
-Went on a Chicago suburb shopping Spree and hit up IKEA big time
-Put together Patio furniture
-Painted the Office
-Had my first Girl's Night
-Bought new mattress set
-Having my family to stay for the first time

So yah. It has been a busy time. We still need to re-do the 2 bathrooms and the 2nd guestroom, but we are getting there. Pictures to come soon!

9:30 update

The snow is now up to our window sill on the first floor. I am thinking upwards of 15 inches. This is awesome. No work for 2 days straight. Slumber party/wine party with Josh and Audra. Love it!

5:00pm update

We now have over 12 inches of snow on the ground with up to 3 more inches tonight. We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

Blizzard Update:

As of 2pm today, the snow in front of our windows was up to my knees, about 20 inches (most likely due to drifting and blowing). We went out in the Jeep to see how it was out there. It was a blast, probably not the best idea, but a blast. Here are some of the highlights:

It's a Blizzard!!!

From Blizzard of '07
It's the blizzard of 2007. We are up to 7.7 inches, with an additional 3-4 inches previously on the ground. And we are looking at 3-5 more inches before it is done. I am having the time of my life. Tyler went to work this morning only to have work canceled at 9am and to head back home. He said he had never had more fun driving to work. Thank God for the Jeep. :)

This picture was taken at about 10am this morning. It is now about 12:45pm and the drifts are about twice as big and the snow has no set time of stopping. We are in for fun times tonight. At least we went to the grocery store this past weekend. Take care!

Don't worry.... be happy.

My entirely too kind in-laws are behind the subject of today's post. You see, Tyler and I went for round 2 of trying to give people our money for their house. And we were about 24 too late.

The house we were 2nd looking at tonight sold last night at 7pm. Who sells a house during the SuperBowl?! With the Bears and Colts, no less? But the house did sell and we are back to square one. Today at school I received the flower bouquet to the left to brighten up my day. And it did just that. They are gorgeous daisies, and my bouquet even has white roses, which are one of my favorites. So thank you Wayne and Deb. I love them! They were just what I needed. And thank you to everyone else for thinking of us in this trying time. Mom, Dad, Josh and Audra, Girls and Jeremy, and Everyone. Thanks! It means a lot. We will figure something out. At least we have until May :)

Alright, it is now about 5 hours later from when I started this post. I drugged up to fight this cold coming on and it completely wiped me out. So this is all for now.

Denied

The trip to this house has been over since Tuesday night. It is only now that I have been able to really talk about it without tearing up. I am ok now though. It was a learning experience, now knowing that not all people are negotiating types, and for that much, reasonable. But now we get to keep looking at houses and more and more will jump onto the market as it gets closer to Spring.

My co-workers all thought I was in a bad mood this week when really I was just sunk. This truly was a trip, but we will be better prepared for the next round. Take care!

Roller Coaster...of homes

Today has been a roller coaster of emotions. We put in the offer yesterday afternoon with a deadline by 5pm today. We heard back at 1:30 today and the counter offer was not good. So we have now countered their counter and we will see what happens. I want this to work out, but I am ready to walk away if I need to. I am already distancing myself emotionally from the house, just in case. So if it is meant to be, it will be.

We'll see

March 28th ?

The offer has been signed. We are now in the waiting stage of the offering. We met with our Realtor tonight to put together an offer. I feel it went pretty well. Hopefully we come in at a price that is good for everyone. I am very excited for tomorrow evening when we find out if it went through or not.

In other news... today was a Monday from down under. Not good. I was told to try to find humor in it all...yah...didn't happen. But I am much better now. Tyler just made killer burgers and all is well in the world.

I am trying to figure out how to keep from pacing back and forth waiting the next 24 hours out. I try not to think about it... but I want this house! Let me know if you have any ideas.

Take care!

A house hunting we will go...

Monday was our first official day of house hunting. We met up with our Realtor-man around 10am and headed out into the neighborhood. It was really nice having an agent who grew up and has lived all his life in the town we are buying into. We looked at 6 properties... and you cannot judge a house by its exterior or internet listing! :) My goodness, looks can be deceiving. But, in it all, we found a place we might just call our own.

Here it is. A tri-level with a huge backyard backing up to a wooded area and a pre-requisite cornfield. I am really liking this house. It has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a living room, family room, dining room, laundry room, and a newly remodeled kitchen. I am way excited about the possibilities. We are going again on Friday to see it with family. I have lots of questions I need answered, but the possibility of an April closing is all good! Take care!
